Default Bernard Butler - People Move On (1998) Retail CD

I bought this when it was first released back in 1998 and at the time thought it was quite good. Over time I've found that it's basically a patchy, forgettable affair. I'm a big fan of Mr Butler's work, but on this he seems to think he's Jeff Buckley/Neil Young when he comes across more like Chesney Hawkes/Peter Frampton. Granted the music is fantastic, but widescreen epics like 'Not Alone' are crying out for a great vocalist. His previous collaborators, Brett Anderson and David McAlmont would have delivered, Butler's pre-pubescent whisper doesn't.Wisely I see he's now working with McAlmont again.Good move. Say what you like about post-Butler Suede, but I can honestly say that 'Head Music' was a far more interesting and varied album than this.
