Description
Def Jam's second signing of a white rap act brought us 3rd Bass. Unlike the Beastie Boys, Bass are more on a straight up hip hop tip. There are no rock and guitar samples here just up front vocals, hard beats and crazy skits. MC Serch and Pete Nice flow brilliantly together (which is why the solo stuff never took off) and the production is tight, although 1 or 2 tacks are a little dated for today. Stand outs such as "Wordz of wizdom", "Brooklyn Queenz" and "Gas face" will remain classics. The debut is part fun and part political but you can't help but feel that 3rd Bass are apologising for beingmore…
