Description
I've always loved the Norman Granz jam sessions. On the whole they invariably work and the music is exceptional. Not so this c.d and apart from the lengthy 'eternal triangle' the music is just uninspired and in the lengthy blues 'after hours' just plain tedious. Having a stellar front line up of Sonny Stitt, Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Rollins i expected a franctic example of prime hard bop boy, was i dissapointed. The opening standard 'sunny side of the street' just sounds as if they were going through the motions and Gillespie's singing is cringe worthy. As i've said the frenzied 'eternal trianglemore…
