Like the finest wines, Michael McDonalds voice just keeps on getting better. I have to admit that although Michael has written and performed some superb music over the years I have always bought his music to listen to his voice rather than the lyrical content. Michael is an accomplished songwriter without doubt, but in my view his voice is the real reason people love his music so much.I am always sceptical about albums that are made up of reworked songs especially classics like Motown. Some artists just can’t seem to pull it off but this album really works. Every song as been brought outmore…, dusted over, spring cleaned and performed to the highest possible standard. Michael breaths new life into songs some of which are over 35 years old and makes them all sound new. No one other than Michael McDonald could do this to such a high standard. All 14 songs are classics and Michael has not simply sat down at the piano with a sheet of music and lyrics and belted them out– he has crafted each song to suit is own unique style. The music is warm, powerful and emotive as always. I liked every track on first listening.I love this CD – no music lovers collection is complete without it. Well done Michael.
