Description
Once essential and unassailable, Alice Cooper albums have been gradually reduced to the status of gig souvenirs; the sonic equivalent of tour programmes for their inglorious creator's increasingly burlesque stage shows. Yet Brutal Planet finds Alice at least toying with the musical Zeitgeist by utilising contemporary metal devices and echoing Marilyn Manson dynamics. His lyrics, meanwhile, can still raise occasional eyebrows. "Pick Up The Bones" is traditionally and exquisitely sick while "Take It Like A Woman" is heavily reminiscent of "Only Women Bleed".
