The appropriate "more…Have you ever loved a woman" is sung by clapton with an intensity that is staggering. Big Bill Broonzy's blues standard "Key to the highway" is refashioned by Clapton and the mercurial Duane Allman into something akin to a slowly simmering cauldron. "tell the Truth" with it's funk-edged rythmns and power chords provide the perfect background for Clapton and Bobby Whitlock to trade impassioned vocal lines. There is not a weak track on these sessions and a chance to view the behind the scenes creative process is irresistable. Discs 2 and 3 contain a whole slew of jams, alternate outakes and masters that round off a superb job of re-issuing possibly the definitive 70's rock album. If you only know Eric from his recent pop-ish fare be warned......this is the real McCoy!
