Allan never wanted to play the guitar. He wanted to play the saxamophone (sic). Yeah, yeah Al - why didn't you just buy one then??? Anyways, this most self-concious of artists gets a Synth Axe and forgets himself for a whole album. He sounds like he's having a ball. He coupled the 'Axe' with an Oberheim and creates a series of wonderful textures. 'Looking Glass' is a personal favourite. And... despite my earlier slight, his guitar playing is as awesome as ever - just try jamming to the head of 'Non brewed condiment'. At times, Holdsworth almost sounds like he's having fun!A rare chance to hearmore…
