after listning to the opening sinister warning shot of "dipp with me" on DPG's full length album, dillinger & young gotti, it is clear the duo are aiming for more than just a "remember us"nostalgic joyride. forget fan respect DPG are out to reclaim the streets. "Niggas like you don't make it over here, where its all about the heart and the cloths you where" snarls kurupt on the funky cut, which features a spoken-word death threat from death row survivor RBX. From there, DPG makes no attempt to fool listners as DAZ's funk obsessed productionpaces the groups gangsta-boogie mantra (xzibit helpsmore… out on the r&b-ish "we livin gangsta like" while kurupts fellow philly rhyme phenom beanie sigel adds a bone-jarring performance on the menacing "best run")However while the duo flashes a rare glimpse of humanity on the somber track "there some way out" the album cant get past its own 'hood ambitions hearing the crip-affiliated daz dole out a tongue thrashing on the edgy "DPG" is the most shocking moment of the LP. "im a man, now what is this that im told/to be red on the spot, this by a nigga i admire." now thats truly gangster. Overall this is a solid album and DPG and death row fans will bang there heads to.
