what a fantastic piece of work! intensely cathartic and aggressive, yet somehow not depressing, merely massively vitriolic. the band's christian roots aren't evident (other than album title) until you look at the very dark lyrics: "Christ is not a fashion, fleeting away." - these guys do have a message to put across, yet it is done in the most abstract of fashions. the highlight of the album has to be the jaw-dropping "Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste"; worth the price of the entire album in itself.the music itself is fantastic: i can only compare them to bands like orchid, curl up and die, earlymore… will haven, and, on the epic "Pretty Soon, I Don't Know What, but Something Is Going to Happen" and "Organized Beyond Recognition", to the awesome isis. in conclusion, this was up in the top five mega-heavy hardcore albums of '02. i strongly urge you to give this a listen if your poison the well album is starting to sound a little pathetic.
