Description
Andrew Gross' 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag suffers from attention deficit disorder. This willfully odd, whirling dervish of a score bursts with ideas, shifting from tango to rock to cha cha at a breakneck pace. If anything, Gross tosses out too many approaches and themes here, and even when they stick, he moves on to something else so quickly that the effect is diluted. There's little denying the sheer creativity and energy galvanizing this score, and one must applaud Gross for sidestepping the clichés and conventions of the comedy genre.
