Though I did my best to avoid it, when I learnt that the new Moonspell album was to be based around the stories of HP Lovecraft I did feel a thrill of anticipation - or should that have been a tentacle of dread?Moonspell have always had that sense of impending doom. Opening song In And Above Men does disappoint. Singer Fernando growls unpleasantly over a heavy metal track. Luckily the brooding version returns for From Lowering Skies.
