At first hearing the new Evanescence single from their forthcoming second album 'The Open Door' is more goth-pop than goth-rock. Amy Lee's vocals are strong as ever, with slightly less serious and far more playful phrasing of the the lyrics. Indeed, the title of the single is far from the nebulous goth rants of 'Bring Me To Life' or the more suicidal tendencies of 'My Last Breath' or 'Tourniquet', the more negative blood which pumped through their first album, 2003's 'Fallen'.
