As a long time fan of the series (since THPS2, and every game since) I must say this is disappointing.

All the great Create-A-Something modes are COMPLETELY stripped from the game except create a skater. So far the game has gone backwards.

As a metal fan, i was disapointed with the 4/5 good metal songs on the soundtrack as opposed to the excellent previous ones.

You start with bugger all so you have to unlock all the pro's (of which many have also gone eg Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek) but moe contempoary ones added eg Daewon Song, Stevie Williams.

Most of the secret skaters are crappy peds frommore… the story mode.

I know the game focuses on realism, but the lack of silly characters and quirky, weird levels make the game incredibly dull and serious..

most of the goals are easy and it took about 2 days to complete the story mode.

STORY SPOILERS FOLLOW: you start ranked #200 skater in the area, and you have to work up to the top 8 to get in tony hawks new team project 8 to make a video. so I did this and its surprisingly easy.. by about 2 levels I was already nearly 100 up. Anyway buy the time id got up to the last couple of levels which are 2 of the best in the game, i did the last goal with tony hawk and expected to continue the game, making the video with the pros. but instead its like "well done kid, your on project 8!" and the game ends. you get a secret level called 'downhill' which isnt very good. i feel robbed. The underground games were amazing, american wasteland was pretty good (but i thought would improve) but it has gone seriously downhill (ironic... being the secret level) since then

the only good new addition id say is the 'nail the trick' mode in which you control the right foot with the right stick and the left foot with the left stick. Pretty unrealistic and youd never have so much thinking time or air time in real life, but its fun for doing crazy random flips.
