Never ones to tax the brain with their lyrics and music, Scooter have, in 'And the beat goes on...', probably produced one of the better dance/rave albums, provided it is approached with a complete lack of seriousness by the listener. At least four of the songs on the album went on to achieve chart success, a tribute to Scooter's ability to mix a catchy tune with a good thumping beat. In terms of what to expect of the album's lyrical content, you need look no further than 'Hyper Hyper'; buried in the lyrics of the song HP, the Scooter lead 'singer' (and I use the word in the broadest sensemore… of the word) delivers the masterful line 'it's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice'. This is probably the most demanding line HP and the boys are ever likely to pen, as the rest of the lyrics consist of shouted inanities ('Scooter, back in the house, yeah. Get off your shirts and wait for further instructions' from 'Move Your Ass' is probably one of the more coherent examples) and other noises disguised as lyrical content, such as the lengthy namecheck of DJs which HP rattles through in 'Move your ass'. It all makes for a good humoured, noisy album, however. Turn your stereo up loud, turn your brain off, and 'move your ass'.
