Blood Red Throne are great. They’re a Norwegian (not Dutch, like the previous guy said) Death Metal outfit with some Thrash metal overtones, formed by former Emperor man Tchort, and they seem to be obsessed with murder. The artwork on this CD is great, with the band doing some novel digging and burying out in the wood! The music itself is pretty good as well, whilst not the most original or imaginative Death Metal you’ll ever hear, it’s quite brutal and entertaining. There are some nice riffs and soloing, and the drumming is pretty intense, just the way it should be on a decentmore… Death Metal album. The lyrics, as you'd expect on an album like this, tend to be concerned with all manner of violence and depraved behaviour. It also makes a nice change with a band from Norway playing something other than Black Metal. This mini-album also contains a top cover of Massacre’s Death Metal classic ‘Cryptic Realm’ which is arguably the finest song on display here. Any Death Metal fans should check this out, it may not be the most groundbreaking release ever, but it is very good on its own terms.
