This is the debut album of Dream Evil,a concept cd in the shape of a warrior slaying an evil dragon (hense the title!)One of the huge high points of this release is the drumming from Snowy Shaw,an excellent young drummer,who's fill's and double bass pedel work is quite outstanding.The album kicks off with a basic mid-paced metal track 'Chasing the dragon',with a sing along chorus and good vocals,ah yes another high point,vocalist Niklas Isfeldt,a very good singer with a voice similar to Lost Horizon.'In flames you burn' starts with a classically influenced guitar pattern,when a sudden rush ofmore… drums and guitars break the peace,and be prepared for an agressive thrashy verse and melodic chorus,with vengeful lyrics.'Save us' is the first 'filler' on the cd,although it grows on you,huge vocals,heavy main riff,cool track.'Kingdom of the damned' is one of my fav's,a very cool chugging riff starts it off,and then it gets more orgasmic with the guitar harmony,a dark track with deep vocals.'The prophecy' is your basic Iron Maiden rip off track,a very very good song though,blazing guitar solos!.Another highlight is 'The chosen ones' the word Rhapsody comes to mind more than onces,huge vocals with full orchestra and fantasy style atmosphere,unbelieveable vocals!.Next up is a slow ballad entitled 'Losing you',very anthemic and depressing,with full use of the orchestra,and an incredicly sweet middle section,another highlight.'7'th day' being the second filler,has nothing much to offer apart from a power metal chorus and sing along verse.'Heavy metal in the night' takes the Judas Priest seat for a moment,big chorus catchy as hell,cool song.'H.M.J' is fantastic,a power metal party song,concluding the story of the cd abit,very humorus lyrics,heavy riff.Closing the cd in style with 'Hail to the king' guitar solo heaven,catchy chorus,great harmonies,perfect.The song writing on this cd is outstanding,one of the best debuts ive ever heard,and i'll be interested in the second cd,pure power metal with originality,buy it or miss out.
