Zyklon have more potential than any current band in the extreme metal category, pretty soon they will be regarded amongst the elite! They're already there in my opinion!'World Ov Worms' was a fantastic album, so fast and full of aggression and technicality with unbelievable drumming! The only thing that let it down at times was awkward or weak sounding vocals e.g. at the start of 'Terrordrome'. But it was the album that announced their arrival on the scene in stunning style!Follow up albums can sometimes appear to be a let down. When I first heard 'Aeon' I wasn't amazingly impressed but aftermore… many listens I'm now realising what a good album this really is but it does have it's bad points including 2 weak tracks.Track by Track Rating:1. Electric Current- 4/59. An Eclectic Manner- 3/5Average Rating: 4/5The album starts off where 'World Ov Worms' left off with a brutal and fast opener 'Psyklon Aeon'! Amazing drumming is again present from one of the best drummers in the world- Trym! This man is a Legend! SecthDamon, the new vocalist, has an impressively deep voice and I prefer it to Daemon from the first album! Good opener!The next track is something quite unusual- a slow Zyklon track! WTF?!?! However, it has a catchy rhythm and good dark vocals throughout! What makes this track memorable is the turn in speed from 3.21 minutes onwards where there is a guitar solo playing above a slow rhythm before some sudden stinging double bass from Trym- just inspiring!'Subtle Manipulation' is a structured song changing from fast to slow on more than one occasion! It is possibly too short and also has some annoying vocals in what appears to be the chorus- the background vocals are annoyingly high pitched! Pretty good overall though!'Two Thousand Years' is too slow for my liking, not enough variation, the riff towards the middle is quite nice but there is a lack of energy in this song and the vocals are too monotonous! Not their best!But that blip is erased by 'No Name Above the Names' which is easily the best song on the album! It starts off with great drumming and guitar work unleashed at high speed and continues for most of the song before it ends in blast beat fashion!! This shows Zyklon's true abilities to play at extreme pace! An amazing song!'The Prophetic Method' is a straight out metal song and it works nicely! The guitars, vocals and drumming are all typical of the band and played at high speed, the guitar solo is particularly cool! A solid song!'Specimen Eruption' is another track that experiments with the tempo a bit by changing from medium paced to quick for the chorus! It is a good song but fairly unmemorable! I don't particularly like the start where they delay kicking in with the song at about 25 seconds into the song, otherwise it's ok!'Electric Current' starts off really nicely, a full metal sound! The first 35 seconds never fails to get my head banging!! The techno keyboard bits that kick in underneath the fast drumming and guitar work don't quite fit in my opinion but they don't ruin the song! The only really annoying thing is that the song ends prematurely going into a techno ending that is only ok when the song was just getting into its blistering stride! This is possibly where the album should have ended because...The last song is a let down to be honest! 'An Eclectic Manner' is just too slow and uninteresting after the first minute and I really don't like the special guest vocals- they are too high pitched and off key! Zyklon are good enough on their own to not need any other vocalists as SecthDamon and a few contributions by Daemon are perfect!! A really disappointing ending song, especially when compared to 'Transcendal War-Battle Between Gods' on 'World Ov Worms' which was a stormer!!Special mention must go to Trym for his drumming- it has been nothing but exceptional on both albums!! I wonder if he will consider doing a drum solo at concerts! How amazing would that be?!?!?!So overall 'Aeon' is a nice change from 'World Ov Worms' but no better in my opinion! This is no bad thing though, it's still a great album, just not perfect! Zyklon are capable of perfection! Already can't wait for the next album!! Hail Zyklon!!!!!
