Everyone who thinks that this is just another commercial living dead flick,watch it again!I can't beleive some of the reviews that said this was just another hyped up,shocking piece of Danny Boyle techno rubbish.Yes there are zombies,or rather, virus infected crazies running about in this film.And no there aren't any wonderfull Shakespearesque dialogues in it.But do watch closely,this film is all about detail and it's power is in the very scenes that seem irrelivant.Just like "The Beach" ,based on a novel by the same author and directed by the same Danny Boyle,this film also deals with the problemsmore… and the horrific circumstances that can emerge from complete anarchy,and what kind of cruel monsters we could become if we were no longer restricted by law.In reality the crazed man eating zombies are just a diversion to get to the point where there are but a few people left who don't know what to do with the responsibility of being the only ones alive on the planet.And this is where the true horror of the film begins and ends.Some people might think this film to be a little thin because of the poor dialogue,but it's really one of those rare films which quality is not defined by this very thing.The characters are shocked and unsure of what's happening to them,they don't need to dance around it with great written verse because they are too bloody frightened,they are as realistic as they come.Which brings up the actors...well,they are great,very realistic as I said indeed.Brendan Gleeson is really becoming one of my favourite actors and I think his talent is somewhat ignored,he is just great in this film,and although his part is not that immense I felt he leaves a long lastin impression.The other actors are all very good as well and all deserve some recognition.The directing is great and in this case couldn't have been done better by anyone.If you are at all familiar with Danny Boyle and his realistic and brutal way of creating a world ,then you sort of know what to expect.The only problem I had with this film was that it was a bit long,but then again perhaps it just couldn't have been made any shorter without loss of essence.I recommend to everybody who can appreciate or just take some horrific scenes mixed with plain old fashioned drama and a very modern way of filming.And don't be turned off by the zombies,as I said,they simply needed a way to wipe out 99.9 percent of civilization and chose a virus.Be bold and see it!
