The most surprising thing about Fleshwounds, the debut solo album from former Skunk Anansie vocalist Skin, is that it took so long to arrive in the first place. Skunk Anansie rose to prominence in the mid-1990s, exponents of an impassioned agitprop punk-metal vision that cast righteous stones at targets like racism and religious fundamentalism.
