So you've heard "This Kiss" a few times and want to buy the album? Do not - I repeat - do NOT buy this album! It's a so-called "de-twanged" version of "Faith", the US album.So what's different? Well, certain instruments have obviously been deemed "too country" for Europe. So they've simply been removed. Not even replaced (unlike Shania, who swapped fiddle and steel for synth on "Come On Over"). Just removed. "Steel guitars? Fiddles? We can't have that... people might think they're listening to country music!"This leaves a big hole in the mix. You know there's supposed to be some instrument ormore… other there, but it's just... a hole.To add insult to injury, the whole mix has also been overly compressed, which wipes out any chance of dynamics. ("Faith" is still a little compressed, but not nearly so badly.)Which is a shame, as there's some very good songs on there. But do yourself a favour and buy the US version "Faith" instead - which also has the excellent track "You Give Me Love", sadly missing from this album.
