Iron Maiden - Killers (1985) Retail CD
This album follows up nicely from Maidens self-titled debut album. After the recording of the first album, Steve Harris was concerned that it wasn't very well recorded (even after a second recording of the full album!) claiming that the guitars weren't heavy enough. This album, however, was recorded very well with some excellent tracks. The first track 'The Ides of March' has no vocals but seems to act as an intro to the excellent second track 'Wrathchild'. This is followed by the fantastic 'Murders in the Rue Morgue' (which is actually sung better by Bruce Dickinso at 'Beast Over Hammersmith',more… which justifies replacing Di'Anno). After this track, the songs which follow are a bit weaker than previous, until you reach the sinister title-track, which provides excellent guitar riffs and a catchy tune. The rest of the album, however, ends with weaker songs, but which can be forgiven after having to write an album through relentless touring, which none of the band members had ever done before and the main reason for Di'Anno's exhaustion and leave.
