Some reviewers complain that this double-disc compilation is not for "trueOzzy fans". Well, those probably have most or all of Ozzy Osbourne'sstudio albums and thus have no need for a compilation.This well-assembled overview of John "Ozzy" Osbourne's solo career isaimed at those who just want one Ozzy-disc in their collection, and thosewho have discovered the ageing rocker through the "reality" TV series "TheOsbournes" and are looking for a place to start. And as such it works verywell.Sony's "The Essential Ozzy Osbourne" is longer than Epic's concisesingle-disc "The Ozzman Cometh: Greatest Hitsmore…", but not necessarilybetter, depending on what you are looking for. But even though a couple ofselections are debatable, and a few good songs are missing, "The EssentialOzzy Osbourne" does include the vast majority of Osbourne's best-knownsongs. The early classics are here..."Mr Crowley", "Crazy Train", and "Goodbye ToRomance", and of course the inevitable live rendition of the BlackSabbath-hit "Paranoid". And so are the MTV hits "Mama I'm Coming Home","No More Tears", and "Bark At The Moon". Most casual Ozzy fans won'treally need to own all of these 29 songs, but new fans will certainly getan accurate representation of Ozzy Osbourne's music with this double-discoverview.
