Holy mother of God, this is good! I've always thought I knew The Beach Boys, due to over-familiarity with all of their early hits and a love of Pet Sounds. Then I got this album. Tracks 10-20 are an absolute revelation and the HDCD sound is astounding. I put this album on with a sense of resignation, and wound up being blown away. In general I think that an author choosing or reading his own works is a catastrophically stupid idea, but Brian Wilson clearly knows his onions, when it comes to choosing the best of his own compositions.
