After an awful lot of hype and far too many mentions of Moby being involved (he's not), Sophie Ellis-Bextor finally unveils her solo album Read My Lips. For a first time effort, it really isn't bad. It suffers from one too many fillers and the odd duff moment, but there's still much here to enjoy. Fans of "Groovejet" will be disappointed by the lack of jaunty Balearic disco, yet as a showcase for her petulant voice and charismatic demeanour it works just fine.
