At 17 tracks in length, this Best Ballads compilation covers ground already treaded by the excellent Essentials greatest-hits disc and 2003's outstanding Love Songs compilation. The parallels are so similar, even the most diehard of fans might be mildly chaffed at the amount of crossover between the three discs. But Love Songs does a good job keeping the Toto reissue machine rolling along in fine form, with the strongest moments in their catalog all making obvious appearances, including "Africa," "Rosanna," and "I'll Be Over You."
