Unlike, I think, the other reviewers I am not a long term listener to Petty - just the odd song or cd now and again - so I can't compare it to much of his past output. I got Highway Companion on the strength of a recommendation and I'm pleased that I did.
I liked this cd from the moment I put it in the player. Solid songwriting, well played, and with lyrical and musical twists enough to catch and hold your attention. It certainly is enough to make me want to investigate him further and the only reason that I have given this 4 stars is on the suspicion that there's a 5 star cd lurking in hismore…
