Villa Elaine is the second album from Birmingham, Alabama five-piece Remy Zero. The band holed themselves up in the crumbling and romantic apartment building in Los Angeles that gave the album its title and inspiration, and wrote a breathtakingly good collection of songs that are at once strong and wistful. Although sometimes compared to Oxford misery-rock benchmarks Radiohead (as well as U2 and even Echo and The Bunnymen) Remy Zero's sound is thoroughly American, unashamedly grandiose yet always sincere, Cinjun Tate's vocals clear and powerful without being showy.
