This is a great album, although the remastering has not made much of a difference as the sound, in true Paul Simon tradition, was excellent anyway. The songs drip with the cool rain of an Amazonian evening, backed by numerous supremely talented Brazilian musicians, Simon's light, airy voice is balm on one's sunburn on a hot day !There are many wonderful images conjured up by the lyrics on this set, which transfer you around the world, to mysterious cultures with timeless music. The sound of the centuries.Gentle hypnotic congas, lilting melodic guitar, the occasional big brass kick and the aforemore…-mentioned lyrical agilty mean that this is indeed a very special album. This CD is a "feeling" and, as such, is best listened to in one sitting, letting it wash over you. To that end, I feel that track by track analysis is not the best way to appreciate this work. Of course, each track is special in itself, but it is as a whole that "The Rhythm Of The Saints" stands out. A remarkable, timeless collection of songs. No library of contemporary music should be without it.
