Although Looking Out My Window doesn't quite reach the same heights as Carl Weathersby's debut, Don't Lay Your Blues on Me, that's merely a relative judgment — the album remains an engaging piece of modern blues. Weathersby draws from both the Delta and Chicago traditions, creating a nice fusion. Occasionally, his playing is a little too flashy — if he reigned himself in, he would wind up saying more — but there's enough excitement in the band's interaction to make this a satisfying second effort.
