Description
Mott the Hoople was formed in 1969 when singer Ian Hunter was dropped like a firecracker into an otherwise undistinguished band called Silence.
Notwithstanding the failure of their previous albums (Mad Shadows" and "Wild Life"), 1972's Brain Capers is where Hunter's Dylanesque shouting began to work with rather than against the thick, raucous guitar, roller-coaster organ, and thundering bass and drums of the core group.
At this point, his songwriting was also rapidly progressing.
