Well... what can I say about this album? The track Sleepwalkers is undoubtedly my favourite (but maybe the Undercover Man is too) but what lets this album down I think is something rather simple... it's not long enough!Yet I think it is fair to say that there was quite a god-complex going on with the four, and in the first track, you do get a huge feeling of them being alienated by God (the Undercover Man).Personally, I preffer 'The Least we Can Do Is Wave To Each Other', but seeing as that's the only other album of their's I have, who knows, they may have done better ones.Yet in comparrison tomore… the named album, Godbluff has a lot less warmth about it and a lot more lack of ease. Every corner in this album sounds suspicious, perhaps even superstitious, somewhat second-hand and not fully explained. It is a far more mysterious album than 'Wave To', which has a very certified and bold pressence in comparrison.Where as 'Wave To' has a feeling of going out into a great space and embracing all that is around ones self, Godbluff has more of a feeling of being lost is space, and being unable to find ones way home. Psychologically, it presents to the listener more of a sense of struggle than cellebration (cellebration as is heard in Wave To). As for the two bonus tracks, I can forgive 'Forsaken Gardens' for having such a poor quality of recording (because after listening to it a few times, you love the song and so the standard of recording becomes irrelavant) but I always switch it off before 'A Louse is Not At Home' because the recording is just too bad.Yet having said all this, the album is a pedastall of excellence. I would give it five stars, but then I would just probably end up giving all of their albums five stars which I am now quickly on the path to acquiring.
