This is possibly the best live Jean Michel Jarre album you can get. However, that isn't the greatest compliment that could be said of this release since Jarre's live albums tend to be somewhat disappointing when compared to his mega-spectacular concerts.Opening with a sadly shortened countdown set against a throbbing heartbeat, things sound impressive enough. Sadly this is the Hong Kong album, so much like the Europe In Concert Barcelona video, an opportunity is missed by not including the booming chords of Chronologie Part 1. Also missing is the EIC version of Chronologie Part 5 featuring a superbmore… guitar solo by Partick Rondat.Other criticisms lie with the mixing. The version of Oxygene Part 4 is nearly up to the excellent La Defense version, until the secondry chorus comes in which sounds too weak. And the version of Chronologie Part 4 has a great intro, but the terrific bass-sequence line is hardly there - unlike the amazing Barcelona video version.However, despite these flaws, it's a respectable live album, enhanced by a thumping Chronologie Part 6 and the inclusion of a new track DigiSequencer. It makes a worthy souvenir for anyone who saw his 1994 concert in Hong Kong, or even anyone who attended the more local "Europe in Concert" shows of 1993.
