Description
Whilst Pollini delivers a structured performance to these two Sonatas, there is little indication of the deft touch Pollini has given in some of his earlier renditions of arguably the composer most suited to his charismatic virtuoso playing. They miss some of the characteristic brilliance associated with both Chopin and the performer. This may have something to do with the slightly woolly sound texture from the recordings, or more likely is Pollini's attempt to give a more mastered view of two of Chopin's more well known compositions.
