Hans Zimmer has created one of the most beautiful and evocative scores for a film ever done. Most sountracks these days are a couple of sweet orchestra tunes and a bunch of catchy but forgettable pop songs. This score truly enhanced a wonderful (and overlooked) film and is more on a par with Mancini or David Raksin as it sets and maintains it's own mood to the very end. "The Waters of Irrawaddy" is hauntingly beautiful on it's own merit but if you have seen the film it truly evokes images of sadness and great beauty.
