By 1981, when this album was released, Rick Nelson was no longer having "hit" records. Playing To Win was an attempt to change that: Rick promoted the album on a series of top American entertainment shows, including The Tonight Show, while the material itself was strong, modern but still recognisably Rick Nelson. Almost Saturday Night was a strong opener, while the updated Believe What You Say brought Rick's own 50s hit bang up to date - it was the version he chose to play in concert.
