Ladrón turned in another professional effort but had trouble igniting sparks on its fifth studio release, which contained six cumbias and seven ballads. The sentimental quasi-title track, the ballad "Vengo A Pedir Tu Mano" ("I Come to Ask for Your Hand"), became a hit, but would have packed more punch with an acoustic-framed arrangement instead of the usual high-pitched synths. Elsewhere, Ladrón clothes its new material in hand-me-down arrangements that show little progression from its early-'90s style.
