This double-CD has subtle and inventive music from pianist Bernardo Sassetti. The 21 solo piano performances are mostly Sassetti's originals. Some are sophisticated and accessible enough to possibly be covered by other advanced improvisers, while others are one-chord ruminations. In addition to performing his own songs, Sassetti creates fresh variations on several standards along with witty renditions of Thelonious Monk's "In Walked Bud" and "Pannonica."
