Listening to Stan Getz and his saxophone is usually a real pleasure, but this album is disappointing. "Big Band Bossa Nova" lacks spirit and vitality I associate with bossa nova. While Stan Getz's saxophone is unmistakable and the other musicians featured are highly skilled, the arrangements seem uninspired. Anybody looking for lively and exciting Latin rhythms should give this album a miss and instead consider Stan Getz "Jazz Samba", "Jazz Samba Encore" or "Stan Getz plays Jobim". Or how about Celia Cruz?
