The O' Jays came together in the 1958 but they failed to make any real impact until 1972, when they emerged as one of the leading Philly soul acts, along with the Three Degrees, Harold Melvin and the Blue notes, Billy Paul and others. The O' Jays began their run of success with Back stabbers, a top three American hit and a top twenty UK hit, but it is their second hit, Love train (a plea for world harmony) that is their most memorable recording.
