Description
Although as tends to be the case with Karajan's later conducting, this might not have quite what his earlier work had, nevertheless it still is a very confident, well-executed performance. It was my first introduction to Debussy's La Mer, and although I have since found a recording I personally value more highly (Celibadache & Munich Phil), this is undeniably of a high calibre. There is also a strong performance of the other three works on the CD, with my favourite track being the Prelude, although if you're a Ravel fan you needn't feel done down either. I'd recommend it as a good introductionmore…
