Oops! This is not the 1985 album. Please remember that there are two self titled Animotion albums released. This is the 1989 album which contains "Room to Move" from the movie "My Stepmother Is An Alien".
If you have heard some of the other material in the Animotion catalog you may be reluctant to purchase this album as the sound of the group changed dramatically between the making of "Strange Behavior" and this self titled album. Several of the groups members left and the group took a turn to more pop-infused songs. That is not to say however that the album doesn't deliver some good songs...

"more…Room to Move" is intensely synthesized but has a fun and upbeat groove. "Calling it Love" is actually a pretty good pop ballad that uses powerful vocals laden with synth bass and percussive flairs to give the song a light and pleasant feel. "Message of Love" and "House of Love" use a similar formula to achieve a decent, but not spectacular level of emotion. "Ground Zero", "Send it Over" and "Do Like I do" are OK in the sense that they are fast and fun but lack any serious musicality. The two remaining songs, "Best Mistake" and "The Way into Your Heart" are probably two of the better songs on the album, just below "Room to Move" and "Calling it Love". "Best Mistake" is an overall good song because of it's use of powerful vocals and effective synth beats and bass. "The Way into Your Heart" has an almost jazzy feel to it, especially with the addition of the trumpet and horn section, making it one of the best songs on the CD.

Essentially, although "Animotion [1989]" doesn't compare in the slightest to the bands superior older material, this album shouldn't be overlooked as it is a fun and generally well done late 80s synth pop album.
