Description
Drummer Erskine is joined by bassist Palle Danielsson and pianist John Taylor. It opens with Taylors haunting New Old Age a truly memorable piece. His Clapperclowe belts along next and Erskines moody On The Lake slows us down again. Then follows 2 Vince Mendoza compositions allowing space for the trio to develop their interplay. A lot of it is very subtle but there is plenty of committed, passionate playing.Track 7, Pure and Simple is another excellent Taylor offering that meanders all over the place.A hugely enjoyable album of piano trio jazz.
