The current available Kraftwerk catalogue represents only a portion of Krafwerk's ouevre : "Autobahn" is the first album where Kraftwerk hit maturity - a central, and thematic concept that ties together the work muscially and lyrically to create, like Kubrick, interpretations upon a theme and differing genres with each release.

Therefore, "Autobahn" is the first album of the official catalogue : a 22 minute musical journey through the liberation of road travel is designed to reproduce the clank of gears and the monotony of the engine with the rhythm of the music. The record reflects the interregnummore… of Kraftwerk's transition from a somewhat experimental set of freeform pioneers to their next step as electronic scientists. Side two of the record is a somewhat incohesive, but precise musical representation that works as as suite that is, seemingly, held together by the vague concept of the cosmos. I could be completely wrong, and seeing a link between land and space travel that exists only in my imagination, but "Autobahn" was, and is, a superior album of it's genre that rightly exists far beyond the original contemporary environment it was released within.

This remaster is the definitive CD release.
