I bought this album on the advice of a friend in Germany who boasted it was a lost cult classic. It's no longer lost but it is a classic. I can tell you, it lives up to the hype. For those who like me are recent converts to the band, you should seek this album out immediately. The reference points are top drawer REM, Byrds, Beach Boys and Psych - Country.The first thing to grab you is the sheer tunefulness of the songs. Ungrateful, Patience, Brand New Car, Country Life and Still A Mother's Son are good enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with anything by any other band on the current music scenemore…. There's a great little song that ends the album called New Day Dawning and it's one of those rare emotive moments like REM's Find The River from Automatic For The People where you have a lump in your throat as the sun goes down over the horizonand all is well with the world. This is a magical album that's highly recommended.
