Description

I discovered this album by chance, when I went looking for more Jim Steinman works performed by Meat Loaf / Bonnie Tyler (don't miss her version of his 'Tyre Tracks & Broken Hearts', from the "Whistle Down the Wind" album).

I actually bought it when I saw it contained one of my favourite Meat Loaf songs 'Good Girls Go To Heaven'. At first, I didn't think this version was quite as good, but after listening a few more times, I REALLY love it! It's the sort of song that should be sung by women, and they sing it very well!


Several of the songs on here which are better known as being by Meat Loafmore… (and others), are actually the *original* versions, such as :~
'Original Sin' (look out for the extra lyrics in the chorus).
'It's All Coming Back to Me Now' (a vastly superior version to either Celine Dion, or the new Meat Loaf duet).
'It Just Won't Quit' (a nice alternative to the more famous version)
'The Future Ain't What It Used to Be' (absolutely amazing - the highlight of the album)

The opening spoken piece 'Invocation' is a dark, delicious treat. Add to this 'Pray Lewd' (a piano solo combining 'Original Sin'/'It's All Coming Back..'/'It Just won't Quit'); 'Twentieth Century Fox' (The Doors cover); 'Safe Sex' (took a few listens, but it grew on me! ). And, as others have said, the hilarious 'Want Ad'!

It surprised me, in a very, very good way!
