Tommy, The Who's hugely successful rock-opera started it all. Quadrophenia was the 1973 follow-up, a disillusioned flashback to the early 60s, when mods engaged in pitched battles with rockers on the Brighton seafront. Pre-dating Trainspotting by two decades in its portrait youthful nihilism, drugs, violence and rock 'n' roll, Songs from Quadrophenia is the soundtrack to the 1978 film based on the original album.
