Born in 1927, deep in the blues country of the Yazoo delta, Mose Allison grew up surrounded by music, both live and on the radio. His unique vocal and piano style shows traces of this diverse musical upbringing, combining the cadences of the blues with the soft sophistication of Nat King Cole, the harmonic subtlety of bebop and a quiet, wry wit that is all his own.
