This single shows that Kylie Minogue is in danger of being overtaken by her sister at the moment! Although Kylie has become a cultural icon her recent singles have not reached the quality of her real springboard, "Can't get you outta my head". Dannii’s “I Begin to Wonder” is far better produced and written than Kylie's recent singles and it sure to hit the top 10 like a rocket....The joy of the production on "I Begin to Wonder" cannot be overstated. The bottom half is largely powered by an electro octaved bassline that goes all the way through. Dannii's voice has been treated so that itmore… flows and cuts through this bassline wonderfully. Dannii's voice speeds up just before the chorus, increasing the energy and tension of the song. And then it is all released in an incredibly "large" chorus itself. The filter is opened right up on the bassline, and a fabulous swirly effect surrounds everything, with a fast kind of "tinny" bass coming in above the octave bassline. And Dannii's vocals slow right down and pump up, so they sound like a powerful chorus of 3 Danniis! Absolutely hypnotising. On top of all this great production, the tunes are just so catchy and pleasurable to listen to.There is a subtle touch in the structure of this song that adds to its momentum. As usual in a pop song there is a verse, then a section before the chorus (which begins something like "every day is a new day..."), and then the chorus ("And I begin to wonder...") The section between the verse and chorus actually repeats after the chorus. So the slow chorus is kind of surrounded by it. This "surrounding" section is faster and rhythmically very powerful (and is one of things which will propel this single into the top ten), and it isin contrast to the slow whirling chorus. I haven't heard this in many pop songs, and it is very effective.Overall I love this track, and hope it gives Dannii the recognition she deserves as a performer and a song writer. I wouldn’t say it was her best track for the dancefloor. But in terms of just listening to it loud, it rocks. The second time I listened to this track, I followed it up with another three listenings immediately. I love it!
