Description
A decent early-'70s release from Billy Boy Arnold, Catfish sees the singer recording in the U.K. with Tony McPhee & the Groundhogs backing. Arnold is in fine form, with excellent harmonica playing throughout, and singing with conviction. Unfortunately, his British band is workmanlike at best, and never really catches fire. Having said that, Catfish does showcase Arnold very well, especially on "Just a Dream" and Little Walter's classic "Blue and Lonesome." Although for fans only, there's little doubt that anyone who loves postwar harmonica playing would enjoy many of the songs here.
