Nothing Serious is a pretty apt title for this one really.In his first straight ahead quintet acoustic jazz recording in over a decade, Hargrove shows that he certainly hasn't lost those hard bop chops of his but the overall feel of the album is that it really isn't "anything serious".
Weighing in with a scant forty minute running time and most of the tracks around the 5 minute mark, none of the soloists ever gets a chance to build a high quality solo.Hargrove is as sharp as ever,Justin Robinson proves he is no slouch on the alto sax and the veteran Ronnie Matthews on piano delivers the qualitymore…
